At Brunswick School, we acknowledge that we are Treaty 6 people and that we live, work and play in Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota, and the homeland of the Métis. It is a privilege to live on this land as it allows us to learn, to educate, to earn a living, and to engage in recreation in its vast beauty and peacefulness. We acknowledge that this land enriches the lives of all who reside here in every way.
As caretakers of the land, we pledge to learn, understand, and show respect for the interconnectedness of all living things in the spirit of Reconciliation.
Brunswick School is located in Melfort, Saskatchewan which is situated in the beautiful northeastern part of the province. We are one of three elementary schools in Melfort and are part of the North East School Division. Brunswick School has students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6, with an average school enrolment of around 250 students. We follow the Saskatchewan Curriculum.
At Brunswick School, we have three rules:
Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible.
Aligned with the North East School Division, we engage in Restorative Practices which teach empathy, self-awareness, self-reflection, how to set boundaries, accountability/responsibility and the reparation of harm.
Students are supported in their daily development by professional teaching staff, Educational Associates, a Diversity Education teacher, Library clerks, Administrative Assistant, and Caretakers. The North East School Division has a Student Support Services branch that supports all schools across the division with professionals in: English as an Additional Language, Counselling, Speech and Language, Educational Psychology, Outreach and Occupational Therapy.
